Other people or non-sufferers might dismiss lip blisters, also known as cold sores, as nothing more than small blisters on reddish areas around your mouth – painful and filled with fluid but nothing to be too concerned about. After all, you have had cold sores before with full remission in 10 to 14 days with little to no treatment done on your part.

But anyone who suffers from these knows that they are literally the most anti-social things that can appear on your face! It feels like being a leper for a week whilst they develop and go down. So getting rid of them for good is something that is extremely desirable.

I managed to get rid of mine, and I will share how with you in this article.

If that describes your situation you should check out this cold sore cure that solves the problem >>

You have probably just dismissed your cold sores as similar to canker sores, which is a mistake so many people also make. You may belatedly realize the difference when health complications arise that could have been avoided had you known the difference between the two sores.

Although the two sores look similar, the main difference is that cold sores are highly contagious, are caused by the herpes virus and can lead to serious health complications while canker sores are not all of these things. Indeed, once you know the difference, you will want to take immediate action.

On one hand, cold sores are very contagious. You can pass them on to another person through skin-to-skin contact like kissing on the lips. Look at your lip blister – if these are still in their early stages of breaking out until the skin has completely dried and topped with a dry crust, you should take all measures to avoid kissing babies as well as adults with eczema, cancer, AIDS and organ transplants.

Better yet, you should just avoid having skin-to-skin contact! We are also talking about oral sex as cold sores on the mouth can transmit the herpes virus to the genital areas and, thus, the appearance of genital herpes. You definitely will not want to start a rash of sexually transmitted diseases.

Sounds frightening I know, but remember, you can do something about it >>

But genital herpes is not the only complications of cold sores. You should seek medical advice when the symptoms of cold sores manifest themselves as a herpes simplex infection can migrate to the eyes after it is done with the mouth especially during a recurrence. In the process, you are putting your eyes at risk since the cornea can be scarred by the blister.

Fortunately, lip blisters can be treated with a variety of medical and natural treatments. Although the virus will still lurk within the nerves ready to recur at any moment, you can actually lessen the frequency and intensity of the attacks.

Take note that cold sores usually clear up after 2 weeks. Still, it is a good idea to suppress the virus in any way possible so as to lessen the risks of infecting others in your circle of family and friends.

First, your doctor can prescribe topical treatments like lidocaine and benzocaine, which will help in the relief of the symptoms like pain as well as in preventing trauma and irritation to the affected area. Second, you may also take oral antiviral medications to shorten the duration of the lip blisters, which include generic names like acyclovir and valacyclovir. These medications may also be prescribed to prevent future recurrences especially when you have a history of frequent attacks.

Indeed, you must never pay lip service to your cold sores. As soon as you notice lip blisters, act on them before you make others suffer, too.

What I Did To Get Rid Of Cold Sores…

The best method that I have personally used for treating cold sores is by using narrowband light machines.

When I first heard about these I thought it sounded a little odd, even weird that a certain band of light could help so much for lip blisters to heal up. But the fact is that cold sores are so unattractive, that despite my reservations I bought one of these machines anyway just on the off chance that it would work.

And honestly, it did. If you catch it quick enough when you feel one coming on, then a dose of the special frequency of light that this device emits generally makes sure it doesn’t develop, and on the odd occasion that it does, the outbreak is dramatically less severe and tends to be a red bump rather then an oozy, puss filled nightmare that makes you look like you are starring in a horror film!

Rather then reading a ton more stuff about cold sores you should know simply that these are the best way that I have found of treating them (And I have tried A LOT of ways!).

Here is the one I use >>

Amongst all of life’s little inconveniences, a lip blister will find its way into anyone’s list. Also known as cold sores, these fever blisters are usually a small cluster of tiny sores around the mouth and on the lips itself.

The good news though is that there is a way you can get rid of cold sores for good by doing this >>

Don’t dismiss these fever blisters either as these are highly contagious. In adults, you can transmit it by direct skin-to-skin contact as is usually the case with kissing on the lips or cheeks. You can even transfer it to the genitalia through oral sex although it is now more appropriately called genital herpes. Yes, it is a highly contagious sexually transmitted disease that increases your risks for AIDS and meningitis.

In children, a lip blister can be transmitted when the infected child wipes his hands on his mouth and the touches another child with the same hands. Keep in mind that secretions from the fluid-filled cold sores are as powerful transmitters as direct contact itself.

Adults or children, it is important to know the difference between a canker sore and cold sore for the simple reason that the latter is highly contagious while the former is not. Knowing which is which can spell the difference between being healthy and being saddled with a virus that went out of control, thus, wreaking havoc on so many lives, yours included (click here to check out an effective cold sore treatment)

Let’s discuss the causes of lip blisters first. As previously mentioned, cold sores are the result of a virus – the herpes simplex virus type 1, to be exact. When the virus first attacks, usually during childhood or adolescence, you will experience symptoms like fever, soreness of the mouth and throat, headaches, nausea and vomiting, as well as open sores on the gums and the inside walls of the cheeks. You will even think that it’s just another throat infection that can be gargled away.

Unfortunately, the virus will stay dormant in the nerve roots of the affected area to be activated by various stimuli. You can have a recurrence of the symptoms, which usually lasts for 2 weeks, when you are suffering from malnutrition, menstruation and exposure to ultraviolet radiation as well as other autoimmune diseases like cancer and AIDS. In short, you will always have the virus that causes lip blisters and you will not have an immunity against it, as is the case with, say, chickenpox.

The good news is that there are a few things that you can do to lessen the frequency, severity and intensity of the attacks. You can ask your doctor for proper prescriptions in addition to adopting a few lifestyle habits, as follows:

Take antiviral medicines. You should consult with your doctor about the best medicines, most of which are very effective during the early stages of the cold sore.

Apply topical creams with zinc. You will notice a significant decrease in the frequency of the fever blisters when zinc ointments are used.

Go for aromatherapy. You can mix essential oils like rose oil or lavender oil with jojoba oil as the carrier. Then, directly apply on the blisters. You may also use tea bags or aloe vera extracts.

An important way to avoid cold sores is to lessen your exposure to the triggers. For example, if your lip blisters are caused by UV exposure, then avoid the sun as much as possible.

Light Treatments for Lip Blisters

Of all the treatment methods that have been used to treat cold sores however, the method that currently has had the best results in scientific studies to back up its effectiveness is UV Narrowband Light Treatment.

The way this works is that certain frequencies of light have been found to have a healing effect when cold sores are exposed to them.

This may sound a little space age, but the fact is that the technology behind this has been available since the turn of the 21st Century, when a pilot study was carried out in 2001 using a 1072 nanometer waveband light to treat lip blisters.

The study compared applying the normal cold sore creams that all lip blister suffereres are used to applying (such as Aciclovir) with a single 5 minute light treatment with a small, pocket sized light device.

The study found that healing times dropped from an average of 7 days with just the cream, to just 3 days using the light machine, and the outbreak was less severe.

A similar study was also carried out five years later in 2006 that again backed up this finding, that these light machines really are a new weapon in the fight against unsightly cold sores. And real-world users back up that research with their own findings.

I personally bought one of these machines after reading all the research (and frankly being fed up of having lip blisters), and have been amazed with the results.

These really do work.

If you use it when you first feel the tingle in your lip, then you seldom even get a lip blister develop.

Even if you didn’t like science much at school, this is space age stuff that I recommend you check out if you suffer from these unsightly devils, because as well as helping you heal, it guarantees that you can go out in public WITHOUT being self conscious!

If you have ever had to suffer with a lip blister or cold sore then you know exactly what a curse they really are. I sometimes wish that Bill Gates or Warren Buffet suffered from Cold Sores, because I suspect we would have seen rather more research into the area if they had

Cold Sores are caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus which lies dormant at the base of the nerves around your head, and periodically re-appears, most usually when you are feeling a little run down, are stressed out over something, are experiencing climactic differences, such as when you travel on holiday to a new country that is appreciably hotter or colder then the one you normally live in. Or else, the main culprit in my experience, when you have a date!

Either way, regardless of the causes there are things that you can do to prevent cold sores, and in Lip Blister I will explore them.
